June 6 is the 82nd anniversary of the Allied Invasion on Normandy, now commonly known as D-Day, on June 6, 1944. In recognition and appreciation, all veterans and family members are invited to a free US military veterans appreciation lunch, hosted by the Daughters of the American Revolution. There will be special speakers, and commemorative pins will be presented to Vietnam veterans. At 12:30 pm, the Missouri River Quilts of Valor ceremony will wrap nine local veterans in specially-made quilts to honor them for their service and sacrifice.
