Good News of Great Joy (December 2021)

Heidi Larson

The Christmas season is upon us!
In a world of bad news (and even fake news) and fear, it can sometimes be hard to find good news, let alone joyful news.
On the night of Jesus’s birth, the angels came to shepherds with this greeting: Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. (Luke 2:10). Now, the shepherds didn’t have Snopes or Google to search to see if this was legit. They believed it and rejoiced.
Jesus’s hometown was Nazareth. Nazareth was a small town that some looked at as insignificant. Much like most of North Dakota may be considered insignificant. But nothing (and no one) is insignificant with God. This Good News is for ALL people, even those of us in a small town in a flyover state.

At The Connection, we share the good news of great joy each day of every year to the people in our region. This news is that God sent His Son Jesus into the world to take the punishment of our sins – which is death. But Jesus didn’t stay dead. He rose and is alive today! He will return again for those who put their faith and trust in Him.
I’d say that is more than good news – it’s the best news ever! Let’s rejoice and share the news!
Glory to God in the highest!
Merry Christmas,
