As I write this blog, the world is captivated by the Olympics. Whether or not you watch the Olympics, you at least understand the concept– athletes from all over the world come together to compete in a particular sport on behalf of their country. The top three finishers are awarded gold, silver or bronze medals. Of course, the ultimate goal is winning the gold medal.
In many places in the New Testament, Paul refers to “running the race.” He is comparing our lives as Christians to an endurance race. However, this “race” is different. We are all running for the same goal – eternal life with Christ.
We Are Messengers’ current song, “Image of God,” contains one of my favorite lines: “There is no first in line at the foot of the cross.” We all need Jesus. Jesus offers salvation for all, not just those who have a special talent or come from a prestigious family.
Jesus is offering you a gold medal of salvation. You simply have to surrender and receive it. Have you accepted it?

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:13-14
